Calling All Carls?
A short article was recently written by Jon Regardie for Maxim Magazine about named-based organizations. There was no reference to 'Carls' in the article (as the headline indicated) but The FRED Society was at the top of the list. Two other entries were 'The Brotherhood of Seans' and 'World Wide Wendys.'
All the Freds here at FredQuarters didn’t appreciate the reference to 'Nerd Herds*,' but with over 70,000 hits (and still counting) at fredsociety.com and hundreds of new members, we’ve got to say "Thanks Jon and Maxim Magazine!"
Heres what the article said: The FRED Society (fredsociety.com)
Membership: About 4,000 including about 40 women (error - does not compute).
Why, man, why? This Palm Desert, California-based organization operates a FRED Museum (exhibits include a baseball signed by Fred McGriff and a Freddy Krueger doll) and sells T-shirts, caps, and other assorted Fredorabilia. Founding Fred, Fred Daniel, started the group because he felt there was a negative image of Freds in the media reinforced by inept, bumbling characters like Fred Flintstone. Oh cheer up, Fred! For every Flintstone, theres a paragon of manhood like Savage and Right Said Fred.
